We are EXPERIENTIAL facilitators. Experiential learning is the process of making meaning from direct experience, i.e. "learning by doing". Our DNA way is anchored in the blended combination of preferences for thinking (head), doing (hands), feeling (heart) and sensing (hunch). ‘Head, heart, hunch and hands is easier to remember than ‘cognitive, affective and behavioural’.
This 4H way acts as the foundation for our programmes. We can take any skill or mindset and bring it to life in an experiential way through the Head-Heart-Hunch-Hands approach using a range of role plays, mental maps, peer learning, storying-telling, concept skilling, visualisation and heart-led practice; followed up with commitments, decisions and actions.
Through this DNA way, we encourage the learner to :
• be actively involved in the direct experience;
• self reflect on the experience;
• conceptualize (head), feel and intuit (heart) the experience; and experiment/do new or different ways(hands)
• own and sustain the commitment to grow
… this helps the learner and the learning peer group to drive renewed commitment, decision making and problem solving by actively using the new skills/ideas/feedback gained from the experience. The approach is aligned to the three broad preferences of thinking we see in learning and thinking styles. These three preferences can often be ‘purist’ form or blended forms.
